Direct video surveillance
Direct video surveillance is carried out in continuous mode, and the image from the installed cameras is transmitted to the operator's monitor. The effectiveness of such monitoring depends on the following factors:
The number of cameras per operator (no more than 4 is recommended).
The psychophysiological state of the operator, the level of his motivation.
Operator operating mode. Do not neglect this factor. The effectiveness of tracking the situation on the monitor decreases over time, therefore, it is recommended to work in shifts for staff with mandatory breaks.
Image quality. It all depends on the equipment used and the correct installation.
Direct video surveillance is suitable for monitoring an object where a prompt response to an emergency is required. Unfortunately, the operator will be the main factor in this case. 90% of the efficiency of the system will depend on it.
Video surveillance with recording
Video surveillance with recording records the events occurring at the protected facility. The main factors here are technical specifications:
characteristics of installed video cameras;
recording equipment parameters;
autonomy;
additional functions (recording by time, turning on cameras when triggered by motion sensors).
Consideration should be given to protecting the recording equipment from unauthorized interference. Recording and properly mounted equipment allow to quickly establish the identity of offenders, to record the moment of penetration into the protected area.
Hidden video surveillance
Covert video surveillance is the most effective visual security system. Main advantages:
high level of anti-vandal protection;
unknown location for the offender;
criminals do not pay attention to camouflage without detecting cameras, which makes it easier to establish the identity.
But be careful when using hidden cameras: there are moral and ethical factors that are regulated by current legislation.
Ways to improve the efficiency of a video surveillance system
- updating of video equipment;
- using a combination of various video surveillance systems;
- use of dummies of video cameras;
- installation of an uninterruptible power supply;
- use of Internet technologies (access to the camera over IP);
- increase in the number of operators.
- Inspect the video surveillance system monthly and identify deficiencies in a timely manner. Use only proven solutions and appropriate equipment in your work.
